MSN Randomly Opening

MSN website randomly opens whenever internet connection is established even though it is not the default homepage in any browser on the machine.

This is caused by Microsoft Active Probing.

Resolution:

Disable Microsoft Active Probing

• Open Regedit
  
• Navigate to:
  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet\EnableActiveProbing
  
• Change value from 1 to 0
