Resolution:
log into the machine with the local administrator account
Right click computer
Click properties
Click advanced system settings
Click the computer name tab
Click the change button
Click the workgroup radio button
Enter WORKGROUP in the dialog box beneath the workgroup radio button
Click OK
Click OK
Reboot the computer as prompted

Click the Domain radio button
Enter the fully qualified domain name in the dialog box beneath the domain radio button
When prompted, enter your network credentials
Click OK
