To perform a factory reset on a DROID 2 by MOTOROLA  Model Number A955:


  1. From the home screen, select the App menu.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Privacy.
  4. Select Factory Data Reset (at the bottom).
  5. Click Erase SD Card box if desired and Click the Reset Phone button.
  6. If prompted, enter the current passcode (usually last 4 digits of the phone number).
  7. Click the Erase Everything buttton.
  8. The phone will complete the factory data reset and then reboot.
If the phone's home screen is locked with a forgotten or unknown passcode, perform the following steps for a factory reset:

  1. Shut the phone completely off
  2. Open the slider keyboard
  3. Press and hold the Power button and the X key simultaneously until an exclamation point inside a triangle and the android figure appears
  4. Release the Power and X key
  5. Press the Volume Up and Down buttons simultaneously
  6. The Android Recovery Menu will appear
  7. Release the Volume Up and Down buttons
  8. Using the Volume Up and Down buttons, highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset
  9. Press the Power Button to select
  10. The screen will prompt "Confirm Wipe of All User Data"
  11. Using the Volume Up and Down buttons, highlight "Yes -Delete All User Data"
  12. Press the Power Button to select
  13. The screen will prompt as it completes steps (Wiping Data, Formatting Data, Formatting Cache, and Data Wipe Complete)
