Event ID 1009 is logged on a Terminal Server License server (or Citrix Server) in a Windows Server 2003-based domain

This error appears in the System Event Log despite the fact there is a Terminal Server Licensing Server configured and it has valid licenses and is activated. Per Microsoft this error can be diregarded. To prevent the error from continuing to log, perform the following steps.

This issue occurs if the LicensingGracePeriodEnded registry entry is not set. The LicensingGracePeriodEnded registry entry suppresses the event messages that appear in the System log and ends the Terminal Services license count-down process.

Click Start
click Run
type regedit in the Open box
click OK.
Locate and then click the following subkey:
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
Type LicensingGracePeriodEnded, and then press ENTER.
Right-click LicensingGracePeriodEnded, and then click Modify.
In the Edit DWORD Value box, make sure that the Value data box contains a NULL value (0), and then click OK.

Quit Registry Editor.
