Non-domain Environment:
- Login in with an administrator account(a different account than the one experiencing the issue)
- backup all important user data from C:\Users\username to a temporary location
- Open the Control Panel
- Click User Accounts
- Click Manage Another Account
- Click the user account experiencing the issue
- Click Delete the Account
- Click Delete Files
- Click Delete Account
- Restart the computer
- Click Control Panel
- Click User Accounts
- Click Manage Another Account
- Click Create New Account
- create a new account and add to the administrator group
- copy over and needed files backed up in step 2 into C:\Users\newusername
Domain Environment:
- Login in with an administrator account(a different account than the one experiencing the issue)
- backup all important user data from C:\Users\username to a temporary location
- Open the Control Panel
- Click System
- in the left pane of the System menu, click Advance Settings
- Under the User Profiles heading, click Settings
- Select the account experiencing the issue
- Click Delete button (This will delete the entire user profile and related user SID from computer including all related registry keys)
- Restart the computer
- login with the user account that previously had the issue (the computer will create a new profile on the computer)
- copy over and needed files backed up in step 2 into C:\Users\username
