Forwarding  User's Voicemail to Email with Cisco Unity Connection


Setup the Cisco Unity Connection to the Domain's Email Server (if not already completed)


  1. Log in to  Cisco Unity Connection Administration Site with administrator level credentials
  2. Under the left Cisco Unity Connection menu, expand System Settings 
  3. SMTP Configuration 
  4. Click Smart Host 
  5. Enter the IP address of the mail server
  6. Click Save

Configure User's Voicemail to Relay to Their Email Address

  1. Under the left Cisco Unity Connection menu, click Users
  2. Navigate to the desired user in the list and click on their name
  3. At the top menu, click Edit and choose “Message Actions”
  4. In the first action, for Voicemail, change the drop down box to “Accept and Relay the Message” (this option keeps normal voicemail notification/access on the IP phone and sends the user an email message with an attached WAV file of the recorded voicemail message)
  5. In the Relay Address field, enter the user’s email address
  6. Click Save
